Firm Profile

Our small team is made up of family members, and long standing staff who have worked together since 1992. With over 100 years of combined experience and expertise in taxation and superannuation, we are fully qualified to meet your individual and business requirements. 

You will find us reliable and helpful, with a commitment to excellence of service and attention to detail.  We do not indulge in unnecessary accounting and taxation jargon, preferring to explain issues in a simple, coherent and plain language manner. 


Les Freedman B.Com CPA - Principal

Prior to emigrating to Australia in 1981 with my wife  and 2 children, I was employed in computer operations management in the UK National Savings Bank.  I also ran a successful music retailing business in Glasgow.

Following a year with M.I.M (now Xstrata) in computer operations, I operated a franchise Service Station in Mansfield for 4 years before commencing a Commerce Degree at Griffith University. My Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) was conferred in 1990.

Joining the original accounting practice in 1988, I took over in 1996 and continued with the existing personnel. My Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) status was conferred in 1993.

During the years 2001 to 2010 I provided Financial Planning services, obtaining the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation from the Financial Planning Association (FPA).  I am also a Commissioner for Declaration (C.Dec.).

I am a Director and Founding Member of Arrhythmia Alliance - Australia.  This is a health promotion charity, allied to the original charity in the UK and worldwide. The charity plays a vital role in patient advocacy. Arrhythmia disorder is a silent killer of a huge number of people.  The charity aims to educate, identify those who may be at risk and promote preventative and diagnostic measures.


Jean Wessling CPA - Accountant

I joined Les Freedman & Co when I moved to Brisbane in 1992 with my family. Prior to this I was employed by an accounting firm in Mt Waverley, Victoria. Originally I had been employed as a bookkeeper by the Victorian  firm when I returned to the workforce after my youngest daughter started school.  It was whilst working for them that I realised the error of my ways and completed my degree in Business in 1989, which I had started when I left school.  Some years later I undertook further study and became a CPA in 2006.

Working at  Les Freedman & Co allows me to maintain a close working relationship with clients, something I feel is often lost in larger organisations.  I enjoy working with a client from when they first seek advice regarding the type of business structure they need to setup, to providing the varied accounting services required through the business life cycle.  

Richard Freedman - Accountant

Richard joined the firm in 1992 and provides a wide range of accounting and business services.

SMSF is an area that requires strict adherence to legislation and regulation.  Richard is our SMSF specialist with responsibility for compliance, reporting and advice.

Richard is also our technology/IT 'guru'.  He maintains our computer network and multiple software applications as well as providing support to clients.

Kim Herman

Kim has been with the firm since 1992 following completion of an Office Technology Traineeship Course.

Kim looks after internal administration, accounting support and company secretarial issues. She is also a Commissioner for Declarations.

Paula Freedman

Following 17 years in retail, Paula joined in 2004.  She looks after client and ATO contact issues as well as office administration.
